Airtel and Jio lift India’s mobile subscriber base to 1.282bn in June
India added 5.38 million mobile subscribers month on month in June, with Airtel adding 2.99 million and Jio 2.15 million. Core wireless subscriptions rose by 1.6 million to 1.147 billion, while home-broadband additions slowed.

Why this matters
The June result extends Airtel’s lead over Jio in monthly wireless additions and follows its August 2024 Q1FY25 report, when mobile ARPU reached ₹211 as its 4G/5G base expanded.
