Airtel leads June subscriber additions as India telecom base reaches 134.8 crore

India’s telecom subscriber base rose from 134.31 crore in May to 134.8 crore in June. Airtel added 31.63 lakh users and Jio added 22.91 lakh, together accounting for 87% of the industry’s 62 lakh net additions. Jio remained the largest broadband operator.

India’s telecom subscriber base rose to 134.8 crore in June 2026. Airtel led monthly net additions with 31.63 lakh users, followed by Jio with 22.91 lakh; together they captured 87% of industry additions. Jio remained the largest broadband operator.

Why this matters

June additions extend Airtel’s recent momentum after its August 2024 Q1FY25 report showed mobile ARPU at ₹211 as its 4G/5G base expanded. OpenSignal also found Airtel Fast Lane users had faster downloads and lower latency.
