Airtel adds 2.99M wireless users in June, outpacing Jio’s 2.15M
India added 5.79 million wireless subscribers in June, led by Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio. Jio retained the largest wireless share at 39.27% and led broadband with 48.94%, while Airtel held 37.96% of wireless subscribers and added the most users during the month.
TRAI data showed Airtel and Jio drove India’s June telecom subscriber growth, while Vodafone Idea lagged. Jio remained the largest wireless and broadband provider; Airtel led monthly wireless additions and, alongside Jio, added wireline customers.
Why this matters
Airtel's June lead extends its recent subscriber-growth signal, following its August 2024 report of ₹211 mobile ARPU and 4G/5G expansion. It also follows OpenSignal findings that Airtel Fast Lane users get faster downloads and lower latency.
