Paytm rolls out Pocket Money: UPI payments for teens without a bank account
Built on NPCI's UPI Circle framework, Paytm Pocket Money lets parents delegate UPI access to children with a ₹15,000 monthly cap and ₹5,000 per-transaction limit. First-time use is throttled to ₹500 in 30 minutes and ₹5,000 in 24 hours. Opens a new under-18 cohort to digital retail spend.
Paytm launched Pocket Money, a UPI feature for teenagers built on NPCI's UPI Circle framework, letting kids pay without their own bank account. Parents control monthly limits (₹15,000), per-transaction caps (₹5,000), and real-time tracking.
Why this matters
Paytm is extending its payments rails to under-18 shoppers, a cohort previously locked out of UPI due to bank account requirements, expanding its addressable user base for retail spend.
