Govt Approves Rs 62,500-Crore Mobile Manufacturing Scheme With PLI, R&D Incentives

The Union Cabinet cleared a five-year Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme with a Rs 62,500-crore outlay, offering 2.25%-5% production-linked incentives, up to 1.5% localisation support and a 3% R&D incentive. It targets Rs 39 lakh crore in production, Rs 15 lakh crore in exports and 60,000 direct jobs, strengthening domestic smartphone brands and electronics retail supply chains.
