Government Keeps Premium Petrol Ethanol-Free, Rules Out Return of E0 and E10
Indian Oil, HPCL and BPCL will continue offering ethanol-free premium petrol, while the government says it has no plans to restore E0 or E10 grades or increase blending beyond E20.
Government said premium petrol from Indian Oil, HPCL and BPCL will remain ethanol-free. It ruled out restoring E0 or E10 fuel and said no decision has been made to raise blending beyond E20, citing supply-chain costs and vehicle-testing data.
Why this matters
The fuel-grade decision follows Indian Oil's July 1 cut of ₹173–183.50 in 19kg commercial LPG, easing QSR and hospitality costs and extending the brand's focus on fuel pricing and availability.
