FSSAI banned three Old Monk variants nationwide over deceptive labelling and artificial flavours. The regulator said products using added rum or whisky flavours cannot be sold as standard spirits and must be labelled as rum-flavoured or whisky-flavoured spirit.

Why this matters

The labelling action follows a recent signal on tighter rum and whisky rules affecting three Old Monk variants, while Old Monk shortages have already disrupted Maharashtra shelves during monsoon demand.

Retail-brand signals are accelerating, up 97,525% QoQ.
